Intro post. A bit about Sara

I’ve just noticed that I forgot to do my introductory post! (Apologies!)

So, my name is Sara Massieu, and I work as a Teaching Learning Technician in the Graphic Design Department at CCW. I teach in 2 Bachelor, 2 Master and 1 Graduate Diploma. Sometimes, I still do some ASL hours in the MA Animation program.

I’ve been in this job for over a year, so I think I’m still getting the hang of it.
I’m from Mexico, and I came to the UK to do my Masters at UAL. I did MA Animation at LCC in the middle of the pandemic, which made for a unique and interesting experience while adjusting to a new country.

I have been living in the UK for over four years now. In 2021, I began teaching at UAL as an Associate Lecturer for the MA Animation program. However, my teaching journey started in 2019 in Mexico when I began teaching Photography.
I began working in universities in 2019 as a graphic designer for the Dean’s office at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). After moving to the UK, I transitioned to the UK International Collaboration Office at King’s College, which is affiliated with UNAM. I also worked at the UNAM-Germany International Collaboration Office in Berlin. So, I can say that I have gained some knowledge of universities internationally.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Photography, a Bachelor’s in Graphic Design, and, as I’ve mentioned, a Master’s in Animation. So, in case you were wondering, I do love studying. However, because of these diverse degrees, I’m often unsure about where I fit in the creative world and how to define myself. When people ask about my work, it’s easier to refer to myself as a technician, even though I teach a wide range of subjects—many of which aren’t strictly related to a technician’s role and are more academic. But that’s a discussion for another time and not something I should delve into in this blog post.

**I also hate pointless meetings, so I’ve started a series of illustrations of the Pointless Meetings Club, where I’m the founder and sole member.
